Assemblage

Statement

My assemblages are a tribute to Ruben Gonzales' assemblages. His assemblages were made from collected parts of homes, hospitals, workshops and churches from the town of Santa Rita, NM, which no longer exists. The town of Santa Rita is known as "the town in space" in that it once was a thriving company town where the Santa Rita Mine now operates. Ruben's compelling assemblage, "Christo" and his eclectic studio at WNMU, were a few of the reasons we moved to Silver City. Ruben died the year I came to WNMU, but I have been fortunate enough to be able to use some of the wonderful material he collected for my work.
